Meghan Markle was recently spotted wearing a dress designed by Jason Wu.
Markle attended the Royal Foundation Forum with Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, and Prince William on Wednesday. The event marked Markle’s first official involvement with the foundation’s Make a Difference Together campaign.
Wu is a Canadian designer, whose creations have also been worn by Michelle Obama. But it was Markle’s first time to wear a dress designed by him. However, this was not Markle’s first time to support Canadian dress makers.
In November, the 36-year-old former actress wore a white wool LINE coat designed by John Muscat when she announced her engagement to Prince Harry. After Markle was seen on television, friends, family members, and the media started calling Muscat.
“It was crazy. The entire globe knew who we were in that moment and that’s something that I think very few people ever get the opportunity to experience,” he told CBC News.
Markle also wore a boyfriend shirt designed by her best friend, Jessica Mulroney, during her first public sighting with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games last year. Markle is not from Canada, but she lived in the country for several years while filming “Suits.”
Her decision to wear clothes made by Canadian designers seems to be a nod to her adopted hometown. However, it is still unclear whether or not Markle will also wear a wedding gown designed by a Canadian native.
There are speculations suggesting that Markle will wear an Alexander McQueen wedding dress just like Kate Middleton. This could be the reason why Markle frequently wears clothes designed by Canadian designers during her official engagements. She may opt not to wear one designed by them on her May 19 wedding day.
A spokesperson for Betfair told Vanity Fair that they’ve suspended all their predictions for Markle’s wedding dress. They are convinced that she will wear an Alexander McQueen creation.
“We’ve now suspended this market after seeing some interesting betting on Alexander McQueen this morning who went from 16/1 to 8/1 in a very short space of time. Either someone sneaky knows something, or there’s plenty of shrewd punters who are up on their fashion knowledge,” the rep said.
